Pigeon

This position opens the chest and secures the lower leg.

Periwinkle

The Periwinkle reinforces the core while releasing lower back and shoulder tension.

Warrior 2

Here we see Warrior 2 done in the half seat, at a trot, without stirrups.
This strengthens lower leg endurance as well as encouraging independence and lightness of the upper body.

Twist

This Twist was done at a posting trot without stirrups.

Yoga Mudra

This move opens hips, chest and throat while opening and lengthening the upper body.

Home Stretch

This creates a delicious, full-bodied stretch.

Equi-yoga is a technique developed by Marty Whittle combining the benefits of yoga, breath and movement. These unique yoga based exercises are designed to help stretch strengthen and create awareness of the rider’s body.

Using the yoga movements in unison with your breath and horse’s movements, you can stretch and release tension from deep with-in. A better awareness is achieved of all individual body parts and their unity.

By learning to breathe correctly, engaging the diaphragm and awareness of the psoas muscles the rider can unite with their horse’s energy.

Specific exercises can target trouble areas such as the neck, shoulders, arms, back, seat and legs. By loosening these areas you allow your horse to flow through you.

For more information about Equi-Yoga please contact us at Top Cat Farm or you can download our Brochure. Marty is available for Equi-Yoga (TM) clinics held here at Top Cat Farm or at your school, farm or training facility.
